Since groundbreaking of the Amo-Coatesville section in March of 2005, more than 100 volunteers have logged thousands of hours developing and maintaining that section of the Vandalia Trail. Please visit our Photos page to see volunteers in action.
Several organizations have provided volunteers for the effort, including:
- Red Hats and Purple Chaps (equestrian)
- Hoosier Back Country Horsemen
- Cub Scout Pack 305 (Clayton, IN)
- Cascade High School Octagon Club
- Cascade High School Track Team
There are numerous volunteer opportunities with the Vandalia Trail project, ranging from trail
maintenance and upgrade to fundraising and activities. For specific opportunities, also visit the
Vandalia Trail Facebook page.
Volunteer help is even more essential for the
Putnam Parks & Pathways
portion of the Vandalia Trail in Putnam County. Over the past 20 years,
many individuals and organizations have helped
develop and maintain the trail from Greencastle to the Hendricks County line.
Contact information to help with any portion of the trail is available on the
Contact page.
