Status of Next Level Trails Grants Across NRHT:  As of August 2023, there are 2 newly submitted grant applications by Hendricks County Parks & Recreation and Pennsy Trails of Hancock County and 2 on-going grant projects by Plainfield and Greencastle.

Putnam County Leads in Open NRHT Miles:   With the opening of the 3-mile rustic Hamrick Station Trail in May of 2023 southwest of Greencastle, Putnam County took the top position in miles of open trail along the NRHT corridor.

Hancock Co. Pennsy Trail Extends East from Cumberland:   In June 2023, Hancock County opened the newest section of Pennsy Trail from CR 600 W (Cumberland's Mt Comfort Rd trailhead) to CR 400 W (Eagle Station trailhead), extending the length of continuous trail along the National Road Heritage Trail corridor to 20 miles from the Indianapolis Zoo downtown.
