Hendricks County Parks Constructing Vandalia Trail in Clayton
As part of its Vandalia Trail expansion work, Hendricks County Parks and Recreation began constructing a trailhead and new paved section of Vandalia Trail in the town of Clayton in 2024. The trailhead will be within the town's Lambert Park with the trail routed south to CR 500 S and then as a sidepath along the north side of the road to Michigan Street on the west edge of the town. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025.
At the same time, Hendricks County Parks and Recreation is applying for grants to extend that paved trail section west about 2 miles on property that it already owns. This will reduce the trail gap to the town of Amo in half.
