Cascade High School Track & Field Team Helps Prepare New Trail in Coatesville

On this rainy and chilly Saturday morning, 24 athletes and 3 coaches from the Cascade High School Track & Field team volunteered their energy and enthusiasm to give the new section of Vandalia Trail under construction on the west side of Coatesville a whole new look. This group of young men and women took right to the task of cleaning out brush, branches, and even large trees felled years ago on this forested 1/3 mile section of the trail corridor within the town limits. They also cleared out trash found along the way, leaving this corridor looking more like a nice town park than an old railroad route.

Many thanks to all the athletes and to their coaches Steve Harris, Rosie Fakes, and Aimee Kroll for offering this wonderful help to move the next phase of the Vandalia Trail forward. Also, a big thank you to Rex Rollo, a Coatesville resident and member of Friends of the Vandalia Trail, for his help hauling a large part of the debris to the burn pile in his pick-up truck.

We'll keep you posted on trail construction progress in that area.
