Grants Received for Fillmore Portion of Hendricks-Putnam Connection - July 2012

People Pathways has received four grants this summer to launch new trail development in and around Fillmore as part of the Hendricks-Putnam Vandalia Trail connection. The Putnam County Community Foundation donated $8,000, the The Duke Energy Foundation granted $8,000, the Rotary Club of Greencastle and its Central Indiana district donated $2,000, and the Walmart Foundation donated $1,500.

People Pathways, Friends of the Vandalia Trail, and National Road Heritage Trail, Inc (NRHT, Inc) greatly appreciate the generosity of these charitable organizations in helping fund this project to connect Hendricks County and Putnam County trails, leading to the near term objective of a continuous 12-mile trail between Amo and Greencastle and creating a key link in the larger cross-state NRHT initiative.

Construction will begin after completion of the earlier phases of this connection, currently in process going west from Coatesville and between County Roads 625 E and 750 E just east of Fillmore. People Pathways held a public meeting in Fillmore this Spring to discuss details of the plan and to obtain input from local residents.
